Dec. 12/17

Recently I have discovered a wonderful magazine that comes out 4 times a year called “Huron-Perth boomers”.  I want to give a shout out to Amy Irwin (publisher) and Dwight Irwin (Editor) for making sure that the baby boomers (and up!) in this region have a high quality publication that addresses the topics they want to read about (huronperthboomers.com)

In the latest issue (Vol. 2, Issue 4), I was drawn to an article entitled “My wishes are…” which is a guide to helping baby boomers “plan for later in life while you’re still healthy”.  It was only after having read it that I noticed the author was Judy White, a Palliative Pain and Symptom Management Consultant and Educator for Huron/Perth Counties.  So today is my chance to  also give a shout out to Judy, who helped me begin the journey back in 2015 of navigating the system of care that allowed my mother to have her wish of dying at home, when many would have expected her to have been hospitalized.  That experience greatly influenced my decision to create Better Ways For Seniors.  So thank you Judy, and thank you Amy and Dwight for giving these stories a voice!
