NOTIFICATION OF PROTOCOLS FOR THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC

The Better Ways For Seniors COVID guidelines are based on the following federal and provincial websites:

https://www.canada.ca/en/public-health/services/diseases/2019-novel-coronavirus-infection/health-professionals/infection-prevention-control-covid-19-interim-guidance-home-care-settings.html

Service Providers will self-monitor daily, and if they exhibit any symptoms, will do the self-assessment as per the online Ontario Government assessment tool.

Before entering a client’s home, Service Providers will screen the client, using the screening tool as directed by the Ontario Government.  Questions will include: recent travel of household members, contact with others that have tested positive for COVID, and a list of possible symptoms that may indicate an infection.

Clients or household members with signs or symptoms of COVID-19 will be advised to self-isolate and contact their primary care provider or refer to local public health for further guidance. Those experiencing more severe symptoms will be referred to emergency care.

Service Providers will wear masks for the duration of their visits, and clients are strongly encouraged to do the same.  Good hand hygiene (hand washing, sanitizing) will be practiced throughout the visit, as will physical distancing when possible, depending on the level of care needed.

Better Ways For Seniors recognizes the privilege of being in a senior’s home, and every Service Provider knows what a gift it is to serve them.  We endeavor to maintain the best practices to ensure a safe and comfortable environment for both client and Service Provider.
